Not everybody agrees with me at first; that is, of course, a mistake that I nearly always rectify shortly after I introduce these disagreeable people to, ahem, “the dukes.” I call them “Double” and “Trouble” for obvious reasons. (Editor’s note: Nobody at the hotel knows why Bruce refers to his fists this way, but just roll with it.)
Fortunately, most people agree with how I feel about our magnificent SPA LUCE, and in that lucky camp is Ruthanne Terrero, a Spa Travel Examiner, who has given us a nice little write-up here. She’s generally in favor, calling us “A-lister territory,” which we don’t usually brag about but is 114% accurate and true. You should check it out, but be advised: it may make you want to get a spa treatment. I’m just warning you, just in case that’s something you’re not quite ready for. (Editor’s note: Bruce is “always” ready, as he puts it.)
We also want you to check our Facebook page. We now have over 100 fans – how many fans do you have, friendo? No, really, I’m asking. We’ve also got a couple of good events coming up, including a visit by Will Champlin for this Indie Thursday, oddly enough on Thursday.

While I am all for healthy living – and I certainly recommend it to the kids – I have an unfortunately passionate sweet-tooth. It’s ravenous really. Martha Stewart once called it “petulant and pointed, but with the vagaries of a child,” so you know it’s bad. This means I simply must indulge in weekly bouts with a chocolate cake. I prefer neutral ground, but really, the cake always gets it in the end.
Occasionally, however, I can satiate my favored gland with something local and this weekend, there is such a chance: Dessert Decadence, presented by Drink.Eat.Play and CozmoDeck, comes to the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel & Spa, featuring a dizzying array of sweets from LA’s best chocolatiers, pastry chefs, and bakeries. Desserts will vary from childhood favorites to sophisticated unique sweets, or so they say. It’s all happening this coming Sunday, July 26th, starting at 5 pm.
You should come; you can buy tickets here and RSVP for reminders here at our Facebook page.
All these thoughts of desserts remind me of a dream I had the other night: I was driving along Hollywood Boulevard, minding my own business, when a winged griffin landed in the middle of the street. I stopped the car, got out, and approached the griffin with tenderness in my eyes. I offered my hand, and the griffin gracefully offered its back. I climbed on top, and the griffin leaped into the air, flying high over the city. We sped through the sky until we reached Hogwarts Wizard School. There, we alighted down in the courtyard, and the many students and faculty warmly welcomed me, saying I was finally home. They led me into the dining hall, where a mountain of ice-cream and chocolate pudding was being assembled by the house elves. I was given a spoon, and then – I woke up.

Social media is apparently where it’s at, even if wherever that is rarely boasts an open martini bar. I’d like to remind you I’ve been writing this blog for a little while now, so I’m clearly not one of those unconnected people, those “internet is a series of tubes” luddites. No, I’m sophisticated; I own seven hats. Which is why the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel & Spa, and myself to a lesser extent, are now on Facebook and Twitter.
Why do I mention these things? Because I know not all of us receive our important updates via carrier pigeon. Not all of us even use services like “the mail” or “the phone.” Some of you – as inelegant as it is – use these online services to figure out whatever it is you need know. That includes local happenings, special deals, and possibly amusing events you might attend.
That’s why we’re on Facebook and Twitter. All I ask is that you become a fan of ours on Facebook and follow us on Twitter. If you love Hollywood and Los Angeles, we’ll make it worth the effort (two clicks of the mouse, if I’m not mistaken).
Yes, to me, this all sounds like stalking. But it’s not me that I’m worried about. I never worry about me. Me, I’m very comfortable with. It’s you I’m concerned about.

So we had a couple of problems here at the Blog. Apparently, I went missing for three months and nobody told me. If you want to know the truth, I was on a spirit quest with my spirit animal, the buffalo. Strangely, that quest ended with me eating a buffalo burger, so I’m unsure as to what the next step in my spiritual development is. Sorry to end a sentence on a preposition, but it’s better than a proposition, which people seem to be getting a little too comfy doing in politics, if you know what I mean.
Basically, this is a post to say that we’ll be back up and running shortly and we’ll have more posts, more photos, and, presumably, more me. Since that’s what you’re all here for. (Oops, did it again!)
