Indie Thursday: Stephen Petree Live!

Join us for this week’s Indie Thursday featuring the musical stylings of Stephen Petree! Petree is a former member of Shiny Toy Guns and is a Grammy nominated songwriter. His songs have been featured on “Dancing With The Stars”, “America’s Next Top Model”, “Rachael Ray”, “One Tree Hill”, “The Real World” and national commercials for Honda & Motorola. He’s also apparently on Twitter too!

Hear more of Petree at MySpace or check out these clips of him playing live:

While enjoying the music, guests are encouraged to try the delicious appetizers, delightful entrees, and handcrafted signature cocktails available from the Lobby Bar.

All ages are welcome to these family-friendly events and, unlike a lot of venues in Hollywood, there’s no cover. That means free for everyone!

iPad does not have a view of Hollywood

This week, the talk of the town, Twitter, the bar I’m currently at in Aspen, and of the many illuminati who knew about it months ago (you know who you are!) is all about the new Apple iPad. If you’ve somehow missed the boat on this one, it’s all very exciting, I promise you. But is it the most important thing in the world, as some people might claim? Let’s analyze this new device, using some sophisticated logical analysis:

Does the iPad feature a King-sized bed that you can sleep on every night (or day if you’re one of these troubled teen vampires)?

Nope.

Does the iPad offer weekly musical events featuring awesome upcoming indie bands, huge jazz talent, and classic Sinatra-like crooners?

Not likely.

Does the iPad make any promises of a gorgeous view of Hollywood and the surrounding area, with the additional bonus of the most beautiful sunsets the law will allow?

Not even close.

In short, the iPad is great, if you can get one. Which you can’t. But for now I’m going to stick with a hotel. (Editor’s Note: And to being a brat.) And yes, the answer to your question is, I am very proud of myself. I know what an iPad is. You gotta give me that one, right?

Lesa Terry at KJAZZ Sunday Brunch

Tomorrow morning, I’m getting up bright and early for a real treat: Lesa Terry is performing at our KJAZZ Sunday Champagne Brunch Series. Lesa is the subject of an award-winning film of her Women’s Jazz Orchestra at the 2008 World Festival of Sacred Music. (Check out the documentary in the video below.) Her violin accompaniment was heard at the 2009 inauguration and in the orchestra for Stevie Wonder’s White House award ceremony.
