Vote! Vote! Vote! On Citysearch! (For us!)

It’s not often we ask something from our readers, but today, we want you to take two minutes of your day and go vote for Citysearch’s best hotels in Los Angeles. While I would recommend you vote for us in whatever category you might deem us worthy, I won’t demand it. It’s not like I’ve got a kitten to give you or anything if you do. Or do I?

Easter Holiday Giveaway!

This year, come celebrate Easter in Hollywood, as a part of our Holidays in Hollywood promotion! We’re giving away a one-night stay at the hotel, along with brunch-for-two at the KJAZZ Easter Sunday Gospel Brunch, featuring live music from the gospel group Vortex and an all-you-can-eat-and-drink breakfast buffet. Sound good? Follow us on Twitter or become a fan on Facebook for a chance to win.

In the meantime, please peruse the excellent menu for this Easter Brunch, held at Twist Restaurant. It’s pretty fantastic, it’s all-you-can-eat (and drink, with mimosas and champagne), and it’s only $44. Beat that anywhere in Hollywood.

TravelZoo, thanks for the close-up

Am I the only one who wonders what a “TravelZoo” is, anyways? Is it a zoo you travel through? A zoo of places to travel? A zoo of ways to travel? A traveling zoo? Are they an animal activist group that is pushing for cheetahs and pumas to be airline pilots? (That one’s my favorite possibility.) Whatever an actual TravelZoo is, they are one of the top travel sites on the web-is-sphere, and we can’t be happier that they noticed our latest deal:

“Stay at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel & Spa in the midst of Hollywood. With a two night minimum, guests pay $239 per night and recieve a $25 spa and $100 hotel credit. This promotion is valid for Friday-Sunday nights through June.” via TravelZoo

Check out TravelZoo (@travelzoo or @travelzooLA on Twitter) for more details on the deal and any other zoological or menagerial questions you might have about the Animal Kingdom. Tell them I sent you.

Twit-Away: A New Way To Confuse Me

Over the last 24 hours, we held a quick giveaway over Twitter: we had 10 tickets to tonight’s Janelle Monae show at the world-famous Viper Room on the Sunset Strip and we gave them away to five lucky followers, or at least people who were paying attention at the right moment. Honestly, I learned a lot. For one, now I know who Janelle Monae is: she’s a fantastic sci-fi-inspired, hip-hop/soul singer whose new album, “The ArchAndroid,” is coming out on May 18th. Now, of course, I need to find out what an “archandroid” is, but that’s a task for tomorrow. Or maybe for when I get her album.

The winners of our little contest were @Jensosinfull, @SunriseSundown, @oonamusic, @smrtmnky, and @joseschrute, and hopefully they’ll all be able to pick up their tickets on time before tonight’s performance. Follow them, annoy them, and maybe they’ll give you a spare ticket. It’s a curious thing, to give something away on Twitter: the possibilities are pretty endless and it does cut down on all the red tape that generally gets in the way of giveaways. I’m calling this type of thing a “twit-away.” We’ll see if it catches on. And that means we’re going to be doing another big giveaway around the Easter holiday, so woohoo!

In honor of Ms. Monae, who is about to head out on tour and recently performed at another Renaissance Hotel, enjoy a recent performance of her hit single, “Tightrope,” from BET’s Rip The Runway:
