This week, join us for our monthly LAXRH Indie Thursdays_May Showcase (May 6th) featuring another fabulous line up of six talented independent artists competing to earn a paid performance. We also have a spectacular lineup of May Indie Thursdays Artists of the Month including Drew Broadrick, Brandon Schott and Jes Hudak, so stay tuned for them. In the time being, check out this lineup for the Indie Thursday Showcase:
Rebecca Caldwell – 7:30 pm – Rebecca’s voice evokes many descriptions and a flood of adjectives, not the least of which are ‘haunting’ and ‘angelic.’ Hers is a sweet, pure sound that echoes through the diverse range of her songs. Follow her on Twitter, too!
Last Day Off – 8:00 pm – This young group has already received critical attention from publications like San Pedro Today Magazine (Leona Christensen): “Last Day Off is a breath of fresh air in a stale environment…..Undeniable chemistry, melodic, original, bright and beautiful.”
Elyse and the Aftermath – 8:30 pm – In an era over saturated with Britney’s, Lady Ga Ga’s, and other power pop females, Elyse proves that chicks can still hold their own in the rock scene with their debut album, The Aftermath. Elyse’s raw and vivacious vocals are centerpiece of each track, perfectly blending sassy lyrics constructed from personal experiences from which Elyse isn’t afraid to hold back. Karmina – 9:00 pm – The music of Karmina – helmed by sisters Kelly (lead vocals, harmonies, keyboards) and Kamille (lead vocals, harmonies, guitars) – reminds us that even in pop music there’s no substitute for actual substance. Karmina, which means “song” in Latin, is all about real musicians who possess talent, know-how and determination. Setting themselves apart from these pop wannabees, Kelly and Kamille write, sing, produce and perform music that springs entirely from their own creative designs. Follow them on Twitter.
Adam’s Attic – 9:30 pm – Brought together by a passion for music and unity in the face of adversity, Adam’s Attic inspires listeners with an honest and open sound. From their base roots in New Orleans to their current home of Los Angeles, the power pop/rock band has matured musically and captivated audiences on a global scale. Follow them on Twitter.
Ian Hopkinson – 10:00 pm – Hopkinson’s influences are worlds apart. Classically trained from the age of nine, he started a grunge/rock band in high school, eventually finding his voice in the modern pop and rock sound, with much loved bands like U2, Pearl Jam, Live, Travis, Cold Play, Portishead, Train, and Crowded House.
